Challenge

The Hi Mum project set out to address a significant gap in digital maternal wellbeing. Many expectant mothers experience anxiety, uncertainty, and isolation during pregnancy, while their partners often feel unsure of how best to support them.

The challenge was to design a mobile app that not only empowered pregnant women with guidance and reassurance but also educated their partners — helping them understand what to expect and how to offer meaningful support.

Goal

Our goal was to design an inclusive, empathetic, and evidence-based mobile experience that supports both pregnant women and their partners. Through research and user testing, we identified key emotional and informational needs, shaping a platform that encourages connection, shared learning, and wellbeing.

The app was designed to offer personalised pregnancy tracking, daily tips, and educational insights for both users — helping expectant mothers monitor progress while giving partners clear, actionable guidance on how to be present, supportive, and involved. The aim was to strengthen relationships and create a shared sense of journey through thoughtful design and communication.

Result

The Hi Mum app successfully redefined digital pregnancy support by addressing both sides of the experience — the mother’s wellbeing and the partner’s understanding. User feedback showed high levels of emotional engagement and improved confidence among both audiences, with partners reporting a stronger sense of connection and purpose.

The project demonstrated how design can bridge emotional and educational gaps in maternal care, empowering families through knowledge, empathy, and shared experience. Hi Mum stands as a thoughtful example of how UX design can nurture connection and support during one of life’s most transformative moments.
