Challenge

The existing Drink-Drive Rehabilitation (DDR) statutory guidance document was dense, text-heavy, and difficult to navigate. The challenge was to transform this complex information into a format that was clear, engaging, and accessible to all users, while maintaining the professionalism expected of a government publication.

Goal

The aim was to redesign the document with a focus on clarity, accessibility, and usability. This involved creating a clean visual hierarchy, improving legibility, applying WCAG-compliant colour contrast, and introducing simple iconography and spacing to guide users through key sections effortlessly.

Result

The final concept presented a structured, modern, and user-centred design that improved comprehension and ease of use across print and digital formats. The new layout balanced authority and approachability — demonstrating how effective design can make statutory information both professional and accessible.
